Description :
Our intrepid young learners embarked on the Sustainable Transport Challenge, aptly named 'E-motion,' embracing the task of crafting eco-friendly journeys that harmonised with our planet. This project was a celebration of creativity and sustainability, where students envisioned transport technologies that minimised harm and maximised benefits to both people and the environment. They also future-proofed their routes, preparing for the impacts of climate change. The initiative seamlessly wove together Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). Armed with recycled materials such as cardboard, wood, household items, newspapers, and paper containers, the students breathed life into their designs. This hands-on experience illuminated real-world transport challenges, fostering a spirit of innovation and problem-solving. Tagore House captivated us with their Eco-Glide Cable Car, an elegant testament to the promise of air transport systems in achieving sustainable travel. In contrast, Pratap House crafted a solar-powered helicopter that soared with principles of aerodynamics, utilising solar panels as a beacon of safe, renewable energy. Meanwhile, Ashok House unveiled a propeller ambulance, where the students delved into the science of potential energy stored in rubber bands and the friction affecting movement, bringing theoretical concepts to tangible reality. Whereas Shivaji House showcased their balloon-powered car, a dynamic embodiment of Newton's Third Law: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, as the force of escaping air propelled the car forward. Netaji House created a sustainable yacht, reflecting the future of eco-friendly water transport and leisure. Gandhi House, in turn, focused on a self-paddle boat, illustrating the virtues of human-powered travel and its role in reducing carbon footprints on the water. The competition revealed exceptional innovations from all houses. Shivaji House triumphed with 1st place for their balloon-powered car, a stellar demonstration of Newtonian physics. Pratap House secured 2nd place with their pioneering solar-powered helicopter, setting a standard for sustainable energy. Gandhi House earned 3rd place with their self-paddle boat, showcasing the advantages of human-powered transport. The event was meticulously organised by Shivaji House, ensuring a seamless and impressive experience for all participants. The effort of our young engineers was well appreciated by the judges. Teachers and parents worked tirelessly alongside the students, contributing their dedication and expertise to achieve projects of outstanding quality.
