Description :
Winter is the perfect time for students to embark on outdoor fun activities, and BHS never misses a chance to indulge their students in opportunities which provide learning along with enjoyment. Thus, after the annual picnic, the students of class 1 now went on a field trip to BITM –Birla Industrial Technological Museum on Friday, 5 th January 2024. This not only provided them with a break from classroom teaching, but also an opportunity to awaken an interest in science. The students along with the teachers and staff were accompanied by 10 parents, who graciously agreed to help manage the students in the outdoor environment. The excitement in the students was a delight to watch as we boarded the bus at 9:30 am. Soon we arrived at the museum where chirping birds and fishes in a waterbody welcomed the students with open arms. The students were taken to the Children’s Gallery on the 2 nd floor where they played in the Learning Zone, Play Zone, Fun Zone, Mirror Zone, Assembly Zone and Ride Zone. This allowed the little ones unfurl their imaginations through role plays and creative encounters with the many toys and rides that populate the area. They were then taken to the canteen where the students took a short break and grabbed a few bites to eat. Unable to contain their zest for more, they soon proceeded to see a science show called the Chroma key show. Here, their dreams changed into reality as the students were given a live demonstration through a TV Studio show that illustrated the working techniques behind special effects rendered by the Chroma Key effect like flying in air etc. Unable to hold on to their laughter, the students could see themselves on the screen, flying on a carpet in the sky like their favourite superhero. Then came the 3D Film show where the students enjoyed a fast-paced, entertaining and immersive film that captured the underwater life of aquatic animals, with stunning 3D effects in a specially designed theatre meant to heighten the effect. They squeaked with excitement as some got scared while others tried to touch and feel them, as if it was real. The finale was surely the highlight, and that was the Bubble show. It presented a dramatic demonstration of surface tension using soap film with mind-blowing demos and experiments. Students happily volunteered to wear the eye glasses made of bubbles, a Santa beard made with the same and finally the fire bubbles. The above activities were in alignment with their EVS topic “Water”, which they had studied in class. This surely provided a much needed reinforcement of the lesson and uncovered the various facets of water as an extended learning session. Finally, the students were back in time by 12:50 pm, tired but yet wanting more. Overall, the experience surely helped in the holistic development of the students where the access to different environments along with an opportunity for social interaction surely paved a way for the development of various life skills.
